The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates made his first-ever visit to Pakistan and appreciated the country’s effort to nearly eradicate the polio disease. Prime Minister Imran Khan also lauded the efforts of Bill Gates in Pakistan against poverty and disease. The billionaire philanthropist received the second-highest civilian honour Hilal-e-Imtiaz during a special inauguration ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadar in Islamabad.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been playing a key role against polio in Pakistan and supporting many government schemes including Ehsaas. The charity also committed 1.75 billion USD to support the COVID-19 response in 2020.

The arrival of Bill Gates visit to Pakistan was bound to generate reactions based on how this country normally used Microsoft Windows. Bill visited the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) along with his delegation to praise the government role in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Pakistani officials presented a comprehensive review of their efforts against the virus and briefing on genome sequencing.
Meanwhile, some social media users wondered if those officials used the computers with counterfeit Windows. That probably would have generated a different kind of response from the founder.

Some were excited to see Bill Gates coming to Pakistan just to let him know how they bypassed his paywall. Many purchased the same retail version of the Windows that was cracked by using the same key every time and sold on writable CDs for significantly less price. However, a real copy of Windows always has a separate licence for every customer.

It might be normal for regular people to think about the same joke after seeing Bill Gates visiting Pakistan. Many criticize Imran Khan for rising inflation in the country and often troll him on social media. Some even discussed how certain Indians would react to the arrival of Bill Gates in Pakistan. Indians are known to troll Pakistan over the fact that there are many Indian bosses in tech giants whereas Pakistan has none. Even Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is Indian. Bill Gates has also visited India multiple times like in 2002, 2019, and 2021. However, previously India had bragging rights that the fourth richest man never visited Pakistan.
