Lahore High Court, on Monday, acquitted the criminal Shah Hussain who had been sentenced for brutally stabbing a law student Khadija Siddiqui. Soon after the LHC’s verdict came, the hashtag #JusticeForKhadija started trending on Twitter, as users and the celebrities expressed their shock over an what appears to be an ‘unjust decision’.
Shah Hussain was earlier found guilty of stabbing Khadija 23 times. He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. According to media reports, Hussain’s lawyer argued that his client faced baseless allegations and that evidence against him is insufficient.
So, the court acquitted Hussain, giving him the benefit of doubt.
The DNA report in the stabbing case of Khadija Siddiqui was states that the blood found on the helmet of Shah Hussain belongs to the victim. Hair samples also found in the helmet belong to the accused. https://t.co/0JxLN3DVmW #WeAreWithKhadija #JusticeForKhadija

Stabbed TWENTY THREE times, let’s put that into perspective – Imagine the pain from a paper cut or when you stub your toe. I can’t even imagine the pain. Khadija is a walking miracle. These things leave marks deeper than what is visible to the eye. #Justiceforkhadija

It is a good omen that Pakistani celebrities who have a massive fan following on social media are raising their voice to stand with Khadija. Some show of solidarity was witnessed earlier in Zainab murder case that raised outcry on social media. The way, people are pointing out fallacies in the judicial system and expressing their concern about the failure to serve justice, will indeed help in spreading awareness in the societies like Pakistan, where might is always right.
