Anti Malarial Drug Chloroquine for Coronavirus Treatment- What Is Reality

There is a lot of talk on social media regarding  use of anti-malarial drug Chloroquinefor coronavirus treatment.;medicine is used to prevent and treat of Malaria. This medicine belongs to the class of drugs known as Anti-malarial. Occasionally, it is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus.  Chaloroquine is also used to kill parasite ameba and the infections caused by them. US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is also experimenting on its potential impact on curing Covid-19 patients

Chloroquine for Treatment of Coronavirus

White House Press briefing- President Donald Trump claimed that the Food and Drug Administration had approved the very powerful medicine which is anti-malarial chloroquine for coronavirus treatment.

Well people didn’t take it much seriously and criticized POTUS for making such announcement at national level  since who are habitual of self-medication can start using it without realizing that its benefit in curing disease are not confirmed.

Lately US media has reported that a man has died after using chloroquine for coronavirus treatment.

FDA officials have reportedly not confirmed if it is authentic to use chlorquine for coronavirus treatment since the drug is in trial phase, it does have adverse effects and it doesn’t cure every patient.

According to Stephen Hahn that the agency is currently looking for extensive clinical trials of the drug but it is not approved yet for the use.

Still pharmaceuticals are looking to potential use of chloroquine for coronavirus treatment.

So far coronavirus preventive measures are the best way to stay away from this pandemic.

How Chloroquine works

Malarial parasite enter sin the body through the bite of mosquito. This parasite lives in a body tissues such as red blood cell or liver. This medicine Chloroquine is not only used to kill parasite living inside red blood cell but also to prevent the return of infection.  

How to use Chloroquine

Chloroquine is a medication taken by mouth with food to prevent stomach disturbance or for the purpose doctor directs.  Dosage of this medicine and treatment durations  are based on medical condition. It is very important to take medicine prescribed by the Doctor. Patients shouldn’t take more or less of this drug without Doctor’s consent. They should also refrain from skipping or changing dose without Doctor’s approval otherwise it may cause situation to become adverse and make infection more difficult to treat. 

Side Effects of Chloroquine

Side effects of chloroquine differ from patient to patient. Commonly observed side effects are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramp, headache, and diarrhea sometimes. If these symptoms are persistent then patients must contact their  Doctor. These side effects vary f and totally depend on the patient’s health condition.

It is to be noted that malaria is a disease as a result of bacterial invasion on body. Therefore, if someone has accidently found a use of chloroquine for coronavirus treatment then it doesn’t mean that it is authentic drug and everyone must use. As reports reveal coronavirus impact on victim’s body varies differently depending on  different medical conditions and capacity of immune system. Hence, it is not possible to say that one particular drug can treat all the coronavirus patients.
