Dwayne Johnson Responds After 46% of Americans Vote Him as President

Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson has recently responded to the idea of him being the President of the United States. The superstar revealed that he loved his country but did not know anything about politics. His remarks came after an online public poll in April 2021 showed that around 46% of Americans would like to see Johnson as the new POTUS.

The second-highest-paid Hollywood star has been flirting with the idea of running for the presidency for a long time. In 2017, while appearing on The Ellen Show with Kevin Hart, Johnson said that he was “seriously considering” the role. Then he teased the idea again in February 2021 by saying that he would still consider it if people wanted him to.

Dwayne Johnson on Instagram

It seems that now Dwayne Johnson is having a subtle change of heart as can be seen from his latest Instagram post. Referring to the public opinion poll, the star posted a heartfelt note on Instagram, saying that he was grateful for the support of so many people.

Johnson clarified that he cared about America and all of its people but he was not a politician. Moreover, he said that he might have some leadership qualities but that didn’t mean he could be a presidential candidate. The star only talked about his own values where he said that he did not treat people differently, depending on their class.

He also advised his followers to be inclusive, take pride in their jobs and work hard, take care of their families, and be kind to each other. In the end, he stressed being respectful and stop being “full of shit”.

Celebrities Running for Political Positions

Previously, the name of Dwayne Johnson was among the list of celebrities who stepped into US politics.

The 40th POTUS was also a Hollywood actor, Ronald Reagan and the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger served as the 38th governor of California. Another wrestler Glenn Jacobs aka Kane became the governor of Knox City in 2018. Even Donald Trump, the 45th US President, was a game show host.

More recently, actor Matthew McConaughey is reportedly on a potential run for the position of Texas governor. On the other hand, transgender reality TV star, Caitlyn Jenner is running for the same in California.

Johnson has also never held any political campaigns nor talked about which political party he would join. However, he has made jokes about the idea in the past.

Upcoming Projects

Dwayne Johnson is apparently busy on a long list of spectacles, starting from the DC superhero universe to the sequel of adventure-ridden, Jumanji.

Action-comedy ‘Red Notice’ stars Johnson as an Interpol agent tasked with finding an art thief played by Gal Gadot. The film also features Ryan Reynolds as a con-man who helps Johnson’s character. The film will reportedly release on 12 November 2021.

The next upcoming film is the Black Adam, based on a DC villain turned anti-hero in Shazam! universe. It will reportedly arrive in theaters on 29 July 2022.  Jumanji 4 on the other hand is reportedly still in development and will probably release in December 2022.
