Ehd-e-Wafa Making It to Big Screen

It seems that releasing final episodes of popular tv shows in cinemas is becoming a trend. Just recently ARY’s drama Meray Paas Tum Ho was also released on big screens and it received a huge response from the audience.  The team behind Ehd-e-Wafa is also planning to screen the final episode in cinemas across Pakistan.

A few days before the first teaser’s release actors Osman Khalid Butt, Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar, and Wahaj Ali shared a picture on social media dressed as Special Service Group (SSG) cadets with a bold caption of ‘SSG’.

Drama is said to be a breeze of fresh air when Pakistani tv primetime seems occupied with stories of social issues and relationships. It is receiving an overwhelming response from fans as well as critics since the first teaser dropped down.

Ehd-e-Wafa was not just a love story

One of the earlier teasers that showed sizzling chemistry of Ahad Raza Mir and Aleezey Shah made viewers speculate it to be a love story. The audience was drooling over another good looking on-screen couple.

However, the drama serial is not just a tale about love. It is a story about high-spirited friends who help, support and enjoy each other’s company as they face different hardships in their life.

Earlier it was reported that the drama had some connection with Alpha Bravo Charlie. Actor Faraz Inam, who played one of the lead roles as Faraz Ahmed in the classic play, is playing a high ranked officer. Other than the leads, Hajra Yamin, and Vaneeza Ahmad are also a part of the cast.

A petition against Ehd-e-Wafa in Lahore High Court

Drama is facing huge criticism for loopholes in the script for allegedly painting a hypocritic image of politicians. Twitter users criticized the show for depicting a flawed process of selection of civil servants.  A citizen even filed a petition in Lahore High Court. The petitioner named Zeeshan claimed that Ehd-e-Wafa had stained the image of politicians and media persons.

Petitioner added “Four pillars of the state were displayed but the role of the army was shown instead of the judiciary,” He also requested to stop the drama from airing.

In Ehd-e-Wafa, Shahzain (Osman Khalid Butt) is a politician, Shariq (Wahaj Ali) a successful journalist, Shehryar (Ahmed Ali Akbar) an assistant commissioner and Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) an army officer.

Lahore High court has discharged the petition claiming it unfit for hearing.
