Pakistan came into existence on the 14th August 1947. The Independence Day of Pakistan marks freedom from a long rule of the British Indian Empire. The world knows us as Pakistanis due to our association with our motherland. The 14 August Pakistan marks the beginning of a new journey towards independence, freedom, and a new identity.
What Does Independence Day of Pakistan Mean for Us?
Pakistan Independence Day is not just another holiday in our vacations calendar. It is a day when we reiterate our commitment to the motherland. The sacrifices that our ancestors gave to give us the priceless gift of freedom.
Independence Day of Pakistan remembers those who were at the forefront of our struggle to get free. A fight that has made us strong over time. We have become a nuclear power, the only Muslim country to have it. At the beginning years of our nation, our neighbors thought we were financially weak and could not survive the pressures of a newly born state. But, the visionary leadership of Quad-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah took us to an unstoppable journey.
Yes, we did have our highs and lows. There were times of disappointment and dismay. We could have done better on many fronts. But still, we are here to stay, prosper and grow. On the Independence of Pakistan, each Pakistani must think what we have given to our country. Instead of thinking what has the country given to us. We may still remember the 14 August speech in English that our teachers used to give us to memorize. But unless we truly understand the meaning of the word “Pakistan,” we cannot identify and play our role in the betterment of the country.
