Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s wife, Shalini Talwar filed a domestic abuse case against him in court. She alleged that Yo Yo had abused her in almost every way over the course of many years. Reportedly, she filed an instant petition under section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 which provides protection orders and other reliefs rather than a criminal indictment.
Honey Singh’s Wife Demands Compensation for Abuse
According to reports, Shalini has decided to seek compensation of 10 Crore INR for the damages caused by her husband.
The applicant claimed that the defendant was cruel and he put her under extreme duress. Allegedly he was torturing her mentally, physically, economically, and sexually for a long time. Honey Singh’s wife said that the singer started to become more rude and aggressive as his career took off. He also allegedly beat her when their wedding pictures went viral on social media and the users wished them happily.
The couple got married in 2011 and the deeper details came after 10 years. According to reports, Shalini has also named Yo Yo’s parents and sister as accomplices in this case.
The court has scheduled this case to be heard on 28th August and asked Yo Yo to file his response. The court also prevented him from selling any jointly owned property.
Troubled Relationship
Their marriage became public after 3 years as the singer had issues with the status of “married”. Shalini’s statement included that her husband thought that their marriage would jeopardize his career. This was one of the reasons why Singh attacked her wife thinking that she was the one to leak their wedding pictures and make them public.
YoYo has a long and dark history of drug and alcohol abuse and was also allegedly engaged in adultery. Honey Singh’s wife stated that he was disrespectful to her throughout, cheated on her shamelessly, and took extreme decisions to keep marriage hidden.
Yo Yo Fans Need to Rethink the Definition of Cool
As the news broke, it also broke many hearts who may have vigorously danced to Honey Singh’s songs. Now they regret that they ever liked his content, considering it “cool” somehow.

Singh’s content mostly involves party culture, glorification of alcohol and drugs, expensive cars, and women exploitation.
