CIA has reportedly concluded in its assessment that Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman had ordered Jamal Khashoggi’s murder. Saudi Arabia has denied claims and urged that MBS didn’t know anything about journalist’s murder.
CIA on Jamal Khashoggi Murder
According to media reports, CIA officials think that Jamal Khashoggi’s murder couldn’t have been possible without approval of crown prince.
Further, there were also reports about Saudi Crown Prince’s brother Khalid Bin Salman’s intercepted call through which he suggested Jamal Khashoggi to visit Saudi consulate in Istanbul and obtain the required marriage document. Well, Khalid Bin Salman also reportedly denied that he suggested Khashoggi to visit Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
United States on Saudi Journalist’s Murder
Recently American Vice President Mike Pence stated that he was determined to hold accountable all those responsible for Khashoggi’s murder. Pence said this at a summit in Papua New Guinea.
Earlier, President Donald Trump had stated that he will give severe punishment to Saudi Arabia if it was involved in journalist’s murder. President of the United States had also confessed that he had to take into account his arms deal with Saudi Arabia before taking any action, because he didn’t want to jeopardize thousands of employees.
Who Is Jamal Khashoggi?
Jamal Khasoggi was a Saudi journalist and staunch cirtic of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. He was a Washington Post contributor and lived in the United States of America. He had been to Saudi consulate in Turkey to get a marriage document while his fiancee was waiting outside but he didn’t came back and went missing. Later, Turkish media claimed that Khashoggi was killed inside Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. After the incident Saudi Arabia had received a huge criticism for not being able to protect its citizen that too inside country’s consulate.
Saudi Crown Prince Muhammd Bin Salman was accused for ordering murder as he is already infamous for intolerance towards his critics. Now, the reports have emerged that CIA also believes Muhammad Bin Salman to have ordered the murder.
Khashoggi’s murder has already raised concern among human rights factions and various international forums. Till now it is not proved who was responsible for his murder inside Saudi consulate. Apart from the brutal murder of its journalist Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also facing criticism for human rights violations in Yemen.
