Top Female Actors that Can Play James Bond and Own It

Daniel Craig’s final James Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’, will be released on 12th November, according to the reports. The hunt for the next bond has already begun and still names like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddlestone are popping up as the next Bond. It infuriates people to unfair levels when fans talk about the lead role or women in this franchise. Contrary to this,  there is a strong fan demand on reconstructing the role with a well-deserved femine touch.

8 Choices For A Female Version Of James Bond

Let’s have a look at the top choices.

Lauren Cohan

Lauren Cohan is an American-British actress, born in 1982. Recently Lauren returned to the TV Series, The Walking Dead with a bang. She has already taken on Negan, a flamboyant villain with an unstoppable army, so she would have no trouble in going against the likes of Blofeld, Trevelyan, Silva or even Goldfinger. Fans will love to see her as the next bond.

Besides the stunning looks, she proved that she can easily hold her own in male dominating movies. In TWD, which has a tendency to kill off the strongest characters, Lauren’s Maggie Greene is still standing. She helped make Maggie one of the strongest female leads on television today. After stealing spotlights in male dominated shows like Chuck and Supernatural, the British actress is primed and ready for Bond.

Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks (1974) is an american actress, writer, director, and producer. Banks revealed that playing 007 is her dream role and would not mind keeping the name despite the gender swap. She is widely known for comic roles but her recent stint with action franchises like The Lego Movie, Hunger Games, and The Power Rangers were greatly appreciated.

Until the release of the final Bond movie, Banks has to hold her thoughts and see if the film is successful enough to earn another franchise.

Thandie Newton

Thandie Newton is an English actress born in London in 1972. She is known for her remarkable performance as mesmerizing Maeve Millay in Westworld on HBO. Thandie is a powerhouse on screen who has the ability to strike fear in the audience with a simple gaze. She won an Emmy Award in 2017 for Westworld, BAFTA in 2005 for Crash, and in 2019, she was appointed as the Officer of the Order of The British Empire (Civil Division) for services to Film and Charity by her majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II. So there are more than one reason for British public to accept her as a female Bond.

Thandie is not new to action movies, her Nyah Hall in Mission: Impossible II was equivalent to a bond girl already. But her suaveness and rebellious spirit is that of a James Bond, and there is no doubt that she would breathe new life into this franchise when needed.

Gillian Anderson

When fans started demanding a female version of James Bond, Gilly took pleasure in throwing her hat into the ring.

It is no doubt that the sultry actress can perfectly fit the 007 shoes. People also seem excited to hear those news but currently its happening only in a pipe dream.

Gillian Anderson is an American-British actress, born in 1968. She has been fighting aliens on X-Files since ages, and currently handling a sadistic cannibal on Hannibal. It is quite daring of her to take on the mantle of 007 after so much chaos. But, if anyone can take it, it’s her. She is the one woman on screen who can remain shaken but not stirred.

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt (born 1983) is a British-American actress, widely known for her cruel role in The Devil Wears Prada. She missed her chance to play one badass super-spy, Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to conflicts in schedule. Now, an increasing number of fans don’t want her to miss the chance of playing the female version of Bond.

The way she played a skilled and fierce warrior, Rita Vrataski in Edge of Tomorrow, it was a Bond movie audition already. Her other movies, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Sicario, The Adjustment Bureau, and The Girl on The Train have established Blunt as one of the biggest action stars in the world.

Some of her fans have come up with interesting theories regarding her role as the iconic spy.

Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu was born in 1968 in New York who is most famously known for playing Alex in Charlie’s Angels (2000). The best thing about her is that she plays her character like a boss. From Kill Bill to Elementary, her performances have always been hardcore which is why she is one of the most popular choice to play 007.

She’s a trained martial artist, and loves to do rock-climbing and horseback riding. Lucy Liu has filled up much of the physical demands required to play James Bond. Her Bond would beat bad guys to a pulp while wearing a pristine Gucci suit and then order a martini afterwards.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie, born in 1990 is an Australian actress known for playing hilarious Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, and sensual Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street. Robbie was recently seen in an all women action flick Birds of Prey, where humour and action was right on point and Robbie was in the middle of it all. She made a villainous character loveable so imagine what she could do with a protagonist like James Bond.

She can rock weapons, expensive cars, round shades, and provocative dresses in the coolest way possible. Even one of the ex-bonds, George Lazenby who played James Bond in just one film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service backs up Robbie as the new Bond when men are finally done playing with each other. Lazenby supports the concept of female bond by saying he would rather see women on screen than men and especially a woman like Margot Robbie who is more gutsy than many newcomers.

Charlize Theron

When fans think about James Bond, they expect something intense. This woman is the personification of intensity. Theron was born in 1975 in South Africa and during the past years, Theron has proven herself to be the badass action movie heroine of all time.

Mad Max: Fury Road, which was the absolute best movie of the past decade, she snatched it from the title character and made it her own. Next, she was asked to play a darker, grittier, political and more violent version of James Bond in the spy thriller, Atomic Blonde –  and she owned that too. Similar with Cipher in the Fast and Furious franchise. Even Chris Hemsworth has publicly supported Theron as James Bond.

If there is any possibility of female Bond in the future, Charlize Theron would be perfect for that role. Given her resume, her nationality would be a non-issue.
