KK’s Death Breaks Millions of Hearts in India and Pakistan

Indian singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, known as KK, passed away at the age of 53 on 31st May 2022 after getting sick in the middle of a show. The singer was performing his hit song from the 90s called ‘Pal’ when he complained about feeling uneasy. His condition further deteriorated after returning to the hotel. Then he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. KK’s death has shocked his fans in India and Pakistan. Many personalities from different walks of life have paid tributes to the legendary singer. Artists from neighbouring countries have also expressed their grievances about this loss. Most of his fans from both countries lit up the social media with numerous videos of KK’s songs.

KK’s Death Feels Personal for Bollywood

KK remained one of the most beloved playback singers in Bollywood history for decades. His wide range of songs associated with major Bollywood stars became extremely popular in and out of India. It is one of the reasons why KK’s death seems highly personal for some Bollywood actors.

Politicians Pay Tribute to the Singer

From the government to the opposition, several Indian politicians sent condolences to the deceased singer on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was saddened by KK’s death and sent condolences to his family and fans. KK is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. Member of the Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi also paid respects to KK’s family and honoured the singer for making memorable songs.

KK’s voice also touched the hearts of the Indian cricket fraternity. Many current and former players took to Twitter to mourn KK’s death. These cricketers include Virat Kohli, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, etc.

Other Singers

Just like fans, several Bollywood singers paid tribute to KK by sharing one of his songs. Another famous playback singer Shaan shared a video of a duet he performed live with the deceased singer. The powerful duo of Shaan and KK has delivered some of the timeless songs in Bollywood like ‘It’s the Time to Disco’, ‘Dus Bahane’, and ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe’. Shaan was also one of the closest friends of KK in the music industry.

From Across the Border

The news about KK’s death came just a few days after the death of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. Songs by both of these Indian artists are insanely popular in Pakistan as well. A famous Pakistani singer Ali Zafar expressed shock at the two sudden deaths and prayed for the souls to rest in peace.
