Why Is There a Cameo of Malala in Friends Reunion?

Along with many surprise guests, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai also appeared in the special episode of Friends Reunion for a brief period. She was alongside Youtuber Vee Kathivu, who was glad to share her experience of chatting with Malala. Many people were surprised to see the short cameo of Malala in Friends Reunion.

Malala in Friends Reunion Episode With her Best Friend

The special guests were asked about what they liked most about the show. The Nobel peace prize winner talked about her favorite character and moments from the show. She credited Vee as her best friend and said that she was hooked to Friends because of Vee.

The conversation revealed that Malala was a big fan of Friends and laughed really hard on the scenes of Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc). The education activist also confessed that in real life, she was a little bit like Joey and a little like Pheobe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow).

Then she revealed her favorite episode of the series, ‘The One with The Routine’ (season 6, episode 10) which was aired on 16th December 1999. Both friends told each other how it felt to get addicted to a television show.  Malala revealed her best moment from Friends, which was a dance scene between Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) and Monica Geller (Courteney Cox).

Public Reaction after Seeing Malala

Some were happy to see Malala but most got confused about what a Pakistani activist was doing at that event. As politics usually involve hypocrisy and diplomatic statements, some TV fans did not want to see a political figure. Their entertainment was seemingly disrupted by the appearance of Malala in Friends Reunion.

As the fans of the show admired the rest of the cast and special guests, Malala was turning out to be a misfit. For many folks, Malala’s appearance was not one of the most memorable moments from Friends Reunion special.

Some fans opined that the organizers might have realized at the last minute about promoting diversity for international goodwill. She is probably the prominent person for the west when it comes to the representation of Pakistani people.

As Friends was popular in the whole world, it was popular in Pakistan too. Many Pakistanis still binge-watch the series with their friends after 17 years of its climax.

Malala Yousafzai is currently active in supporting the victims of the attacks by Israeli forces on Palestinians. Reportedly, she has donated 150,000 USD to children suffering from humanitarian crises in Gaza after Israeli airstrikes.
