Marseille vs PSG- Neymar Claims to Face Racial Abuse during Match

The most expensive player in the world, Neymar has claimed that he was racially abused during a mass brawl at the match last night. Marseille vs PSG (Le Classique) is always a heated competition but this time, it went out of control. 5 players were sent off after igniting a vicious brawl in an injury-time.

PSG suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals; 1-0. Such fierce rivalry was rarely witnessed after the 80s and 90s. After historic clashes over the game of football, the two European giants have finally displayed their hatred for one another physically.

The Drama Between Marseille vs PSG

The players, Leandro Paredes and Layvin Kurzawa from PSG, and Jordan Amavi and Dario Benedetto from Marseille were sent off in the stoppage time. It was overall an unruly match even before the late brawl started. Referee handed out 17 cards (5 red) which is the highest number of cards in a 21st Century Ligue 1 game.

Things escalated when Benedetto nudged Paredes in the back who retaliated with a swift punch to knock down the fellow Argentinian. He was then captured head-butting Alvaro which resulted in a full-on melee while others tried to prevent the misadventure. Kurzawa and Amavi exchanged some heavy blows for which they were the first to get red cards. Benedetto and Paredes were shown second yellow cards each. After ejecting all four of them, the referee consulted VAR (Video Assistant Referee) to realize that he missed something

Neymar’s Act Caught By The Third Eye

The VAR review during the scuffle suggested that Neymar slapped Alvaro in the back of the neck during chaos. The Brazilian was shown a straight red card although he was given a yellow earlier in the match. Neymar and Alvaro were involved in a tough running battle in an entire match.

The famed Brazilian told the fourth official that Alvaro said something racially vile which is why he did it.

Neymar also tweeted (in Portuguese) that VAR only captured his aggression and not the racism which was thrown at him. He mentioned that he wants to see the image where Alvaro calls him “Monkey Moth******er”

He addressed Alvaro Gonzales with a derogatory term and regretted that he could not hit him on the face instead.

Reportedly, Alvaro was also involved in a spat with Angel Di Maria in the earlier minutes of the match, however no physical altercation was recorded on the camera.

A Bad Loss For The Paris’s Finest

After losing the Champions League Trophy to Bayern Munich, Paris has been slightly off the pedestal. It is their third loss with zero goals since that fateful day. Neymar and the boys lost 1-0 to the Germans and still felt the effects of facing that monstrous team.

A former Ligue 2 team, Lens was promoted this season and was able to beat the Parisians 1-0. They have lost their opening two matches for the first time since 1984. Critics argue that Neymar might have made some false allegations. The head coach, Thomas Tuchel denied to have learned about any racial abuse during the match and said that there should be no place for racism in any society.

The accused player also responded to Neymar’s social media sizzle. Alvaro Gonzales’ statement was contradictory to Neymar’s claims as he refused to indulge in any racist activity. He reassures football fans about his respect for his multicultural teammates. Moreover, he advised Neymar to take a loss like a professional instead of throwing around false blame, especially regarding a severe issue like racism.
