Here Is Why Misbah Ul Haq May Not Be Coaching Anymore

Head coach of Pakistan’s cricket team Misbah Ul Haq is likely to be replaced soon. Reportedly, an unnamed foreign coach will replace him.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made this decision because it was unhappy with Misbah’s performance as a coach. Pakistan’s next series against South Africa will be his last of the career. Recently, Pakistan lost a series against New Zealand, in which Misbah was the boss.

Misbah Ul Haq to Go Through Performance Evaluation

Pakistan not only lost both test matches but also 2 T20Is against New Zealand. The greens only won the third T20I on 22nd December by 4 wickets. After facing defeat in T20Is, Misbah said that the team needs to work on individual performances and improve their skills for the challenges in 2021. However, the team’s performance has been poor for a long time across all formats of cricket. The 46-year-old head coach is under heavy criticism which is making his future at the PCB bleaker.

Reportedly, the board is awaiting his return from New Zealand so there can some sort of evaluation. This meeting will perhaps lead to his replacement with an international candidate. Apparently, bowling coach Waqar Younis and batting coach Younis Khan are also required by the board.

Before his coaching techniques, Misbah’s captaincy was also a very hot question among fans and sports journalists.

Questionable Style Of Coaching International Players

Former Pakistani bowler, Aaqib Javed said that Misbah’s coaching style was not even fit for an amateur cricket team, let alone international.

He further said that whoever gave Misbah and Waqar Younis coaching jobs, should be held accountable. Playing the game and coaching it are two separate things and later is only for those with proper qualifications and experience for the job. Aaqib suggested PCB to hire professional coaches if it wants to improve the Pakistani team. He clarified that he had no interest in a job at PCB because of the severe lack of respect in the system.

Fans were also not coming slow, they have dissected the Pakistani cricket team in a nutshell. Unfortunately, all they found were crucial problems like out of sync players, senseless positioning on the field, and selecting adequate players for huge matches, like the one with New Zealand. All of that mess mainly pointed towards the boss, which was the head coach, Misbah Ul Haq.

Misbah was also bashed a lot for poor performance while he was a cricketer. He retired in 2017 after leading Pakistan to a glorious victory against West Indies.

Pakistan V South Africa Test Series

There is a lot of tension in the dressing room and as well in the hearts of fans. The management might be having trouble in putting up the balanced squad for this test, so some experienced players shared their recommendations.

Pakistan’s last cricket series with Misbah Ul Haq as head coach will start on 26th January and conclude on 14th February 2021.

It will consist of 2 Tests and 3 T20 Internationals.

1st test will be in National Stadium Karachi and 2nd will be in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, both at 10:00 AM (local time).

All T20Is will start at 3:30 PM in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
