He did not only work hard to make his place in the team but also made a strong statement in the ICC Champions Trophy Finals of 2017. India had all the reasons to be confident about their win. They had the top three most run-scoring batsmen to unnerve any bowling attack like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.

Once India was three down, it was only a matter of time before the entire team would go down. India fell short of 180 runs when chasing the big total of 338 against Pakistan.

Hassan Ali, the star performer for Pakistan also took three wickets. Notable contributions were made by other bowlers to contain runs and finally get India all out.

On the question of dedicating the win, he said the journalists should avoid asking him that question. An earlier question of dedicating the win had landed him in a lot of trouble.
