What the World Is Fearing after Death of Qasem Soleimani

The US government in a press release on Friday confirmed the death of Iran’s most feared Major General Qasem Soleimani in a calculated American airstrike conducted near Bagdad international airport in Iraq.

The reaction to Qasem Soleimani’s death is diverse. There are those who are mourning his death (in Iran) and there are those who are celebrating it.

Will killing Soleimani increase the prospects of Trump’s victory in US Elections 2020.

He was the head of Iran’s elite revolutionary guard unit called the Quds which is Iran’s version of Unite 262 or Sayeret Matkal. Unlike this Israeli special force, the Quds are not just restrained to the Intel gathering operation.

Under the leadership of General Soleimani, the unit developed ties all over the Arabian peninsula and supported the formation of various proxy Shia militia that were later used to conduct various covert operations.

Iraqi Troops Die In Airstrike

According to the rebel leaders and Iraqi ground forces, the airstrike killed the general and his second in command in the region. Reports of Iraqi troops stationed near the terminal Baghdad international airport have also come forth causing further outrage.

Iran’s leader Ayatollah Khamenei in a heartfelt speech vowed vengeance and warned the US that is will get a befitting reply to its action. He further declared a three day mourning period to be observed throughout Iran.” Iran will continue to resist the unjust treatment it is being subjected to by the US” added the Iranian leader

According to opinions, this is nothing more than Trump propaganda. Like some of his predecessors, Donald Trump wants to escalate an existing problem to a whole new level and use it to get himself reelected.

Exercise Restraint

UK Labor party leader Jeremy Corbyn while commenting on the matter requested both Iran and the US to exercise restraint as any miscalculation may further escalate tensions in the region. He further requested the UK government to question the US rhetoric and action.

Due to the heightened tensions, the US government is advising all US citizens to leave Iraq immediately to prevent any mishaps like Baghdad embassy incident from occurring again.

Here is what Twitteratie is saying on the death of Iran’s Suleimani.
