Realme 6- A Choice for the Latest Midrange Smartphone

The Pakistani smartphone market is teeming with the budget phones these days. It is nearly impossible to isolate the only device as the best mid-range smartphone. For that, it is necessary to analyze how this phone can accommodate user needs.

The usage differs from consumer to consumer and one mid-range smartphone might not be able to fulfill a desired need. Which is why some users move on to buy premium phones like iPhone 11 or Samsung Note 20. However, there is before buying a premium phone, one might want to discover some hidden gems that offer comparable value in a much less price.

The Best Mid-Range Smartphone In Pakistan

Realme 6 is one of the best phones for Pakistani users who like a smartphone for high-res pictures and videos, powerful battery, and seamless gaming. Fortunately, the phone falls between 30,000 to 50,000 PKR, which has proven to be quite an effective price range in the Pakistani Market.

Realme 6 is owned by a Chinese multinational company called BBK Electronics. It also owns three other brands of smartphones; Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus. Realme 6 is gaining popularity faster since its release in March 2020. Besides being a trendy phone, the specifications are also mind-blowing considering its price. It has a beautiful design, strong memory, and incredibly useful set of cameras.

About Realme 6 Design

The company has always done something different with the design in its every model. Previously it was supporting the classic gradient colors but Realme 6 got a new comet-like body. This is why the names of the color are Comet White and Comet Blue. This comet design makes the phone look and feel premium like the ones which are more than 100,000 PKR.

It weighs 191 g with plastic frame and back which feels a bit heavy in hands. Thickness is 8.9mm which further adds to the weight. Front is disappointingly Gorilla Glass 3 which is a rather old concept but viable for a powerful budget phone like Realme 6. It does not feel uncomfortable or slippery while holding in hands but the 6.5 inch display might force users to hold the phone with both hands.

It can also run two SIMS at once (Dual SIM). Realme got rid of mini-notch area at the front and added a punch-hole camera which is largely getting adapted by many smartphone manufacturers. Bottom part includes mic, speaker grille, 3.5mm jack, and USB Type-C port. Camera set at the back includes four horizontally stacked cameras with LED flashlight. Volume buttons and SIM/SD card tray are situated on the right side while left only has a power button that also works as a fingerprint sensor.

The only downplay from design are the volume buttons which feel much more plastic and cheaper than rest of the phone.

Realme 6 Display

The quality of the display is impressive as the company has designed the bezels perfectly. It doesn’t disturb the display even if it is exposed to direct light. It has a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio and 2400×1080 full HD+ resolution.

The rarest addition to the phones of this price range is the 90Hz refresh rate which was not even included in the costly Samsung Note 20. It means that the screen and display of Realme 6 is far better than the 60Hz display of Samsung’s flagship.

No major issue was reported regarding the display or touchscreen which is another reason why Realme 6 is the best mid-ranged smartphone.

Realme 6 Camera

The quad camera setup at the back includes 1 x 64MP (wide), 1 x 8MP (ultra wide), 1 x 2MP (macro lens), and 1 x 2MP (depth) cameras. To complement the genius camera setup, the camera app offers several modes of shooting including Expert HDR, Ultra-macro, Nightscape, panorama, and many more.

Realme 6 also supports 4k video mode at 30fps. However the image quality has been better in much expensive Realme phones. In the daytime, Realme 6 shoots with almost perfect quality, details, range, and color but as soon the lights go out, the quality begins to diminish in terms of detail. In that case, Nightscape mode can help a little but can still miss a few details.

Considering that it is mid-range smartphone so it does not qualify as a negative aspect of the handset. However, Realme 6 Pro ironically produces better images with the same camera setup. Following video clip is the test of Realme 6’s 4K video shoot feature:

Realme 6 Performance

The hardware of this phone is the key difference maker against premium phones with relatively similar specs. It is powered by Mediatek MT6785 Helio G90T Octa-core processor which incorporates four Cortex A76 and four Cortex A55 cores to enhance battery life. The 4300mAh battery is a decent addition to a budget phone like Realme 6. The phone can easily last from morning to night even if pushed hard. Moreover, according to the advertisement it can be fully charged within 1 hour.

It can run all the heftier games available on Play Store like PUBG, Call of Duty, Asphalt, or Gangster without lag (PUBG only supports 60Hz at the time). The GPU is Mali G76 MC4 which is also in many other phones of Realme. It dramatically increases the performance in graphical complexities as compared to other Mali GPUs.

It is available in 4 variants in terms of memory; 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB. Unfortunately the built in storage is not more than 128GB but microSDXC card up to 256GB can be inserted to increase storage. Still the total available storage space might not be much useful to those who want to keep plethora of stuff in their phones. One issue regarding the memory was reported that variants lower than 8GB slightly suffer while performing heavy multitasking including gaming.

Realme UI is a feature-rich interface based on Android 10. It allows countless customization options and gesture navigation in a smooth user-interface which does not lag like most budget phones in Pakistan.

Realme 6 Price

Realme 6 is a formidable competitor to the beasts of its class like Motorola One Fusion Plus and Samsung Galaxy M31 and yet it is much cheaper than them. The price starts from 36,999 PKR for its 4GB/64GB variant and goes up to 41,999 PKR for the 8GB/128GB variant. For other models, the price is reportedly; for 4GB/128GB = 38,999 PKR and for 6GB/128GB = 39,999.
