It seems that Pakistan vs Afghanistan World Cup Match is going to be as interesting and exciting as Pakistan Vs India as regional politics is being dragged into it. In wake of Pak vs Afg cricket world cup clash ex-Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar has issued a statement which is making people question if the cricketer knows anything about the sportsman spirit.
Shoaib Akhtar’s Controversial Statement on Pak vs Afg Match
In a viral video message, he said, “I am sorry I am gonna say this very controversial (thing) but you have to tolerate. If you check the ID cards of Afghanistan team then they will show the members belonging from Peshawar; a fact which can end up banning the team.
He further said, “I am requesting to CEO of Afghanistan team and those who are launching their statements in the media please don’t do this. Otherwise, your team will get banned as their ID cards would show them from Karachi and Pakistan.”
“We love Afghanistan, we love the people of Afghanistan, we wanted peace and we wanted to help you out; we have given place to 3 million migrants. We still love you and we are still owning you. But, tomorrow is there going to be no love because we have to win two points. And we would beat them because their CEO stated that Pakistan should learn cricket from Afghanistan. And we will teach Afghanistan and their CEO how to play cricket.”
How People Are Reacting to It…
There is a mixed opinion on what Shoaib Akhtar has said. There are those who think that Shoaib Akhtar deliberately issued such statement as it was controversial and capable of gaining him views; which is what the cricketer wants to stay relevant even when he is not playing anymore. Well, such an opinion also makes sense because making money through views on social media videos is a lucrative business not only for commoners but also for celebrities.
Shoaib Akhtar who called Sarfaraz a brainless captain is well known for giving controversial opinions according to the given situation that pretty much helps him to stay in limelight.
Despite understanding the fact that such controversial statements are usually an attempt to garner social media fame, there are those who think that Shoaib Akhtar’s remarks were vitriol.
Like they were harsh enough to make people reconsider which team they should be supporting in Pak vs Afg clash.
This is how people are ridiculing Shoaib’s argument for why Afghanistan team can be disqualified.
The video is just making the ex-fast bowler stand in line with likes of Veena Malik and Khadim Hussain Rizvi.
He invited the wrath of social media users for his potentially racist rant.
