Here Is What Tanhaji is All About?
The movie is inspired by the real-life of Tanhaji who is considered an unsung warrior hero of India who helped lay the foundation of the Maratha dynasty. Commonly known as Tanhaji Mahraj, was a respected and reputed military leader who served under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire.
Critiques can safely assume it to be another propaganda film about India’s history just like PaniPat that stars Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.
The movie is based on the last military expeditions the Maratha warrior embarked on. According to the plot of the movie, Tanaji, played by Ajay Devgn on the orders of Shivaji, set out to retake the Sinhagad Fort, which the Maratha had to surrender to the Mughals due to some agreement they had with them. The Sinhagad fort carried great strategic importance as it provided the occupants with clear oversight of the entire valley.
With the help of a few monitor lizards, the Maratha warriors managed to scale the walls of the fort and take the occupying Mughal force by surprise. An intense battle pursues between the two enemies and results in a complete victory of the Marathas. During this skirmish, the great Maratha military leader dies as a result of the wounds he sustained while fighting the fort in charge Uday Bhan played by Saif Ali Khan. The movie is set for release on 10th January 2020
