Theresa May Announces to Resign as Prime Minister in June

UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May has announced to step down as Tory leader on June 7. She will continue to serve as Prime Minister until her party selects a new leader.

Theresa May’s Resignation

The second female Prime Minister of UK is resigning from her post amidst the Brexit chaos. In the press conference, while announcing her resignation May said, “The second female Prime Minister but certainly not the last, I do so with no ill will but with enormous enduring gratitude to have the opportunity to serve the country I love.”

May broke down into tears while announcing her resignation.

Reaction Over May’s Resignation

The three years long tenure of UK’s Prime Minister was characterised by the Brexit chaos. May was faced with the mammoth task for finalising a deal to withdraw UK from EU with terms which were acceptable to the people of the UK but she failed. During the process she twice survived the vote of no confidence. Her resignation has come in a time when the fate of Brexit deal is still in limbo.

May’s opponent her welcomed her decision of resignation but they don’t things conservatives to be capable enough of delivering a Brexit according to the whims of people.

Deputy leader of Labour party said, “History will record she was honourable in her intentions.”

The British politics is indeed in very chaotic phase. Theresa May’s resignation doesn’t seem to resolve the Brexit dilemma because there doesn’t seem any alternative either in the form of the leadership or in the form of a plan that satisfies all the stake holders in the Brexit’s execution.

And, someone trying to fit this distracted boy friend meme in this situation.

Boris Johnson is likely to be the next Tory leader.
