These Bilawal Bhutto Memes Are a Respite to Otherwise Tense Political Climate

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s government is facing uncertainty due to the ongoing No-Confidence Movement against him. The opposition parties are using all the tactics to de-seat him while campaigning for upcoming general elections in the country next year. They are holding long marches and processions for this purpose. Just recently Pakistan Peoples Party marched from Karachi to Islamabad against the government. At the conclusion of March, chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari gave a fiery speech that ended up making him a butt of the joke. Bilawal Bhutto memes started flooding the internet soon after a clip from his speech at D-Chowk Islamabad went viral for his slip of the tongue. Bhutto instead of saying Islamabad mein taangein kanp rahi hain (Legs are shaking in Islamabad), said Islamabad mein “Kaanpen Taang Rahi Hain”.

Bilawal facing trolls for his inappropriate Urdu accent and facing sexual objectification at the hands of opponents is not a new thing. His critics always seem on look for the stuff to ridicule him. It seems that his slip of the tongue from the D-Chowk has just proven an opportunity for many.

Bilawal Bhutto Memes from D-Chowk Speech

Bilawal became active in politics after the assassination of his mother Benazir Bhutto. Many critics argue that the PPP leader has no interest in politics and he was only made the chairman to ensure that Bhutto’s legacy remained part of PPP. Very often his opponents claim that he never understands what he speaks let alone writing his own speeches. The slip of tongue just seemed to be something that confirmed their stance. Hence, many of the emerging Bilawal Bhutto memes are mocking the politician’s inability to write the words himself. As the following meme from the famous Amir Khan movie 3 Idiot shows.

Some non-political comparisons for the video emerged as well. As a Twitter user quoted the clip with a statement that Bhutto just showed how it seemed to graduate from online classes.

Even Politicians Seem to Enjoy the Situation

The video clip indeed added to Bilawal Bhutto memes. However, it didn’t prove an inspiration for relatable content only but just a source of amusement and fun. Maryam Nawaz Sharif the leader of PML-N shared the clip with a caption that “this is beyond funny.” Her caption could have dual meanings. Apparently, all opposition parties seem on the same page to de-seat Imran Khan but there is a clash among them as well, since all of them are eyeing the same throne.

Amusement Even for PPP Workers?

While opponents did see this clip as an opportunity to take a jibe at the PPP chairman, it seems that many folks who usually have nothing against the party have also enjoyed this moment. Perhaps, this is why they are also sharing the Bilawal Bhutto memes.

It is to be noted that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is not the only politician who has faced trolls for his statements or speeches. A look at funny Pakistani memes of 2021 shows that many famous people from different fields have offered such content on different occasions.
