Oscar winning American actor and Filmmaker, Thomas Jeffrey Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus in Australia. Actor Tom Hanks announced this in a statement through his Twitter account.
According to media reports, the actor was filming yet untitled Elvis Presley biopic for Warner Bros directed by Baz Luhrmann at Australia’s Gold Coast. In his Twitter statement Tom Hanks told that they felt tired and had chills with some body aches. They both found out that they were tested positive for coronavirus. Protocol had been followed and they were in isolation for public health and safety.
According to Australian media reports t the couple were in isolation at Gold Coast University Hospital.
Warner Bros Halt Production due to Tom Hanks Health
As per a statement from the Warner Bros studio the production of the film was halted as someone from production was diagnosed with coronavirus. It further notified that they were working very closely with Australian health agencies to identify individuals who might have come in direct contact with the victim.
They also added that they were taking precautionary measures to protect their production team around the world as health and safety of their company members was a top priority.
The film is slated to release in 2021 as Tom hank is playing the role of Presley’s manger, Colonel Tom Parker. Tom Hanks’ two more movies are about to release this year. These include a sic-fi movie BIOS and thriller movie Greyhound.
A video post by the Tom Hanks’s son Chet Hanks on Instagram confirmed the news about their parents testing positive for coronavirus. In a video he informed about his parents that they were not tripping, they were fine and going through some necessary precautions. He also appreciated the concern and wishes of fans.

Cameron Wilson the Internet Reporter at Buzz Feed news Australia has also advised people to quarantine themselves just in case they directly met the affected celebrity recently.

World Health Organization declared coronavirus outbreak as pandemic
According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 121,000 people in 118 countries are infected by coronavirus, currently more than 120 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia.
Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres called for action as coronavirus has been declared a pandemic.
