Tom Cruise is returning in the upcoming Top Gun 2 film as Maverick. The title of the imminent project is Top Gun: Maverick, in which the viewers will see new aviation tricks and a whole other level of action. The official trailer is out and reveals bits of the plot and fighter jets’ actions scenes. The film cast has some new and old faces that are to be aligned together in the film. The preview also tells the new role of the protagonist and sheds light on his expert aviation skills.
Top Gun 2 Storyline
The Top Gun 2 trailer gives the nostalgic effect by bringing back Tom Cruise as Maverick Mitchell to train the already skilled but new pilots. Miles Teller, AKA Rooster, summons him for his expertise, and he stays the captain after all the decades have passed. There is a reason why Tom is becoming part of the pilot’s crew, and it includes the return of Val Kilmer, the Iceman. The trailer also revealed a mission in which all the new pilots accompany Mitchell in a mission that no living pilot has even been on.
Main Cast of The Sequel
Apart from the most prominent characters, Tom Cruise and Miles Teller, the other cast member includes Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Manny Jacinto, Glen Powell, and Monica Barbaro. One twist indicates the tension between Goose’s son, Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), and Tom Cruise. Referring to the event in the 1986 Top Gun movie, the incident with Goose is clouding Teller’s judgments towards Maverick as he doesn’t trust the captain. Fans will have to wait for the movie to know the entire context.
Top Gun: Maverick Release Date
Top Gun: Maverick has been delayed multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, it was supposed to be released in 2019. The 2019 Top Gun: Maverick trailer made fans super excited, but then Paramount pictures decided to wait for a while. After that, the film’s release was due in 2021. However, the plan got changed. It was more likely to be Cruise’s decision to hold the top gun 2 release date until the covid situation gets entirely better, reportedly. Top gun announced on social media that the movie would be released on May 27. Also, the trailer viewers will be able to watch it only in cinemas as it will not be available on any OTT platform.
