United Airlines Kicks Off A Couple Going For Their Wedding

A couple was going for their marriage in Costa Rica onboard a United Airlines flight was kicked off the flight in Houston.

The incident happened because of an apparent seat mix-up. The incident came less than a week when United Airlines dragged out a passenger out of its flight, and the video of that incident went viral.

Lately, United Airlines is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Before the above-quoted incident, United Airlines barred a girl from onboarding a plane due to her clothing.

Details of the United Airlines Flight

Details of the United Airlines FlightThe incident took place on flight 1737 which was going from Houston to Liberia (Costa Rica).

As per the Groom, Michael Hohl, he and his fiancé, were the last to board the plane. They saw a man was lying across the seats 24B and C on which they were supposed to sit.

Also, the groom said that they did not want to wake up the man, so they decided to sit three rows up on seats 21B and C. They thought it would not matter because the flight was only half full with multiple empty vacant seats.

Here is what he stated about the situation.

“We thought not a big deal; it’s not like we are trying to jump up into a first-class seat. We were merely in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat.”

Hence, the seats on which the couple was sitting are considered economy plus by United Airlines.

As a result of this confusion, a flight attendant came to them and asked if they were seated in their assigned seats. The groom said that he explained why they were not sitting in their right seats. The flight attendant told them that they needed to go to their assigned seats. Upon complying with the instructions of the flight attendant, they thought they were OK.

However, they were proven wrong as a US Marshal came onto the plane and asked them to get off the aircraft.

Consequently, the couple got off the plane as they were given the following explanation.

“You are disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight, to the safety of the other customers.”

Rather, United Airlines said that the passengers were repeatedly trying to get into an upgraded seat.  They were taken off the plane because they failed to comply with flight attendant’s instructions.

Here is how the statement by United Airlines explained the situation.

“We’re disappointed anytime a customer has an experience that doesn’t measure up to their expectations. These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats. We’ve been in touch with them and have rebooked them on flights tomorrow.”

United Airlines rebooked the bridge and groom for another flight, but they did not take it.

In conclusion, the groom, Hohl seemed utterly disappointed by the service, saying

“I think customer service and the airlines has gone real downhill. The way United Airlines handled this was absurd.”
