Viola Davis wins Oscar to become first black American woman. She has already won Emmy, and Tony. She won the best-supporting actress for her work in the movie, “Fences.”

Viola Davis became a triple crown winner, an accomplishment previously achieved by just 22 actors in the past.

I became an artist, and thank God I did because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.”

Movie FencesFences is a film about Troy Maxson (Denzel Washington) who lives with his wife and son. Troy Maxson used to be passionate about baseball. However, his financial circumstances did not permit him to become a professional baseball player.

Troy’s brother, Gabriel Maxson (Mykelti Williamson) became mentally impaired due to a head injury he received during World War II. The government paid Gabriel $3,000 to compensate for the head injury which was used by Troy to purchase a house.

In this movie, Viola Davis plays Rose Lee Maxson, the wife of Troy Maxson. Troy Maxson goes through a rough life with Troy, struggling through their matrimonial issues.

Viola Davis got the breakthrough of her career when she acted in a drama Doubt in 2008. She got several nominations including SAG, Golden Globe, and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also got nominated for several awards for her spectacular work in The Help including Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Academy Award for Best Actress.

Lastly, who can forget her larger than life role in the latest Hollywood flick “Suicide Squad.” In “Suicide Squad” she played the role of Amanda Waller, an ambitious, devious and manipulative lady who makes bad people work for the US Government on dangerous missions beyond the capabilities of the US military.

The fact that Viola Davis wins Oscar, shows her true acting ability. Beside Viola Davis, Mahershala Ali also won Oscar for a supporting actor role, the first Muslim actor to receive the award.
