She has given a unique definition of COVID-19 on the state-run television network, PTV. She appeared in a current affairs show and shared her distinctive knowledge about what 19 in COVID-19 actually means. She said that this virus has 19 points that can be applied to any country in any way and something about developing immunity. It was either a cryptic message which only she and her people could understand or just lack of knowledge like most politicians in this country.
The correct definition of COVID-19 (according to WHO) is stated as an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Scientists are not sure how this works and the vaccine is still under research and debate. Since the outbreak, it has caused around 181,088 infections in Pakistan. More than 3500 people have died and 67,892 are recovered so far.
The pandemic has made everyone’s life miserable by forcing them to limit their activities so that they can protect themselves from infection. In this situation, ignorance from a federal minister is additional pain. Social media users have reacted to this pain in critical, funny, and angry ways.
