Coronavirus Cases In Pakistan Cross 2000 In 48 Days

Pakistan is currently witnessing a massive increase in coronavirus cases. For the first time in the last 48 days, the coronavirus cases have crossed the 2258 mark on March 10. According to the official website, 42164 tests have been sampled out of which more than 2000 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. Besides, the past 7 days moving average referring to covid cases is 1723. The government suspects it is an alarming situation and taking measures to control the unwanted spread.

Since December 2019, Pakistan has been suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic just like the rest of the world. The country has faced a massive crisis in terms of food, medicine, and even shelter due to the plague. In Pakistan, coronavirus cases kept on fluctuating in 2020 due to several reasons; however, the awareness among people somehow helped in containing its spread rate.

Do Rising Coronavirus Cases Indicate Towards The Third Wave?

The end of the year 2020 brought relief with it since the public and government of Pakistan witnessed descend in covid19 cases. Also, the total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan today is more than 595,239, according to the worldometer.

As a comparison with the first two waves of covid 19, the current situation regarding the constantly increased cases indicates a 4% rise in corona cases.  

Where Does Pakistan Stand With The Vaccination Progress?

The Pakistani government has initiated the vaccination drive for the front-line-health care workers. Reportedly, the government has already started administering the Chinese vaccine in most government hospitals. The health care workers and doctors are not confident about its efficacy. According to research, only 6% of Pakistani doctors showed confidence in the vaccine from China.

Other than that, Dr. Faisal Sultan, special assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, also shed light on the vaccination process in Pakistan. According to him, the population of 18+ age will be the authentic vaccine recipient. This approach will contain the virus spread because vaccinating 18+ people will cover 70% of the total population. He also mentioned that the complete eradication of the virus might not be possible considering the present situation; however, a reduction in the cases is probably possible if precautions and vaccination are considered properly.

Also, the government proposed that the people of age 60 and above are to be prioritized in terms of vaccination, in order to stop coronavirus cases in Pakistan from increasing.

What Is Causing The Spread Of Virus?

The public has seen the government implementing lockdowns for safety purposes. Nonetheless, the authorities had to lift the lockdown in order to run the state affairs again. Also, the students were facing numerous problems regarding their studies during the lockdown period. They had to take online classes as well as exams, which didn’t turn out to be an effective way of acquiring education for them. Upon this, the government decided to reopen all the institutes for students’ better learning.

Pakistan’s federal minister for education, Shafqat Mehmood, while announcing the closure of educational institutions through a press conference, informed that 50 million students were likely to cause the spread of coronavirus. Last days his announcement to close schools in wake of the third wave of coronavirus in the country made him a content for funny memes.
