These International Cricketers Are Coming to Pakistan for PSL 8

The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been scheduled to start next year from February 9 to March 19. Six teams will take part in the annual tournament across 4 cities; Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The temperature is steadily rising in anticipation of the international cricketers returning to Pakistan for PSL 8. Cricket lovers cannot wait to know who will sign up to play for their favourite teams. Some stars have also reportedly started to register their names in the PSL draft, taking place later this month.

Which International Cricketers have Signed Up for PSL 8?

According to reports, two international cricketers joining PSL 8 are David Miller from South Africa and Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka. Experts and analysts expect that more superstars, including Trent Boult, Kieron Pollard, Faf du Plessis, and Tim Southee, will also register later. However, reports have not confirmed their arrival yet.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Meanwhile, the fans have been grateful for an amazing player like Hasaranga making his PSL debut this year. The Sri Lankan is the second-best T20I bowler in the world after Afghan international Rashid Khan. His mastery of the leg spin has made him one of the most in-demand players in local T20I tournaments. Previously, he has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Jaffna Kings in the Lankan Premier League (LPL). It is yet to see which team Hasaranga will play for in PSL.

David Miller

On the other hand, the fans are excited about David Miller’s return to Pakistan cricket after 2 years. The South African middle-order veteran was last time seen in the sixth season of PSL, representing Peshawar Zalmi. He played 3 matches in 2021, scoring a total of 116 runs at an average of 38.6 and a strike rate of 139.7. Organizers were thrilled to share the news of his arrival with the viewers.

Other Updates Regarding PSL 8

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently announced the pick order for PSL 8 draft. Franchises will now decide which players they want in their team. It seems that defending champions Lahore Qalandar will get to choose the first pick.

Previously, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja proposed an auction system to replace the draft model. It was for allowing players to land impressive financial deals from different teams bidding to secure their services. The model was aimed at competing with IPL on a global scale by attracting international superstars to Pakistan cricket. However, franchises were not satisfied with the proposal, so PCB decided to carry on with the traditional pattern going on for the last 7 years.
