Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi The Next Head Of ISIS

Abu Hamza al-Qurashi the new appointed spokesperson of ISIS in a radio broadcast reportedly announced Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi as the next head of the Islamic State. Like his predecessor not much is known about him other than the fact that he is a veteran jihadist who has fought Americans on many occasions. Over the past few years ISIS has adopted the policy of not releasing pictures or information regarding their head of state to insure their safety.

According to military officials, after the death of Baghdadi, the former spokesman for ISIS Abu Hassan Al-Muhajir was emerging as the next in line to succession but like Baghdadi he too was taken out in raid conducted by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and US forces.

A commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces shortly after the raid  while talking to the media on Monday said, “Both the US and his forces had confirmed intelligence regarding Al-Muhajir’s potential emergence as the next head of the Islamic state, so we conducted a joint operation to take him out of the game. Till now, no confirmation of his death had been received, but his presence in the zone of operation is confirmed.” Few hours later ISIS confirmed the death of Al-Muhajir

The Death of Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi

According to the information released by the government at around 5 pm ET, a group of eight CH-47 helicopters escorted by gunships took off from a US airbase in Northern Iraq and flew through Kurdish and Turkish controlled air space to approach the compound housing Al-Baghdadi.

After hovering over the compound and a short exchanging, the US special force operators landed and entered Al Baghdadi’s compound by breaching through a wall. The operators chased him into a tunnel, which turned out to be a dead-end for the ISIS leader who then detonated the suicide vest he was wearing killing himself and three of his children. His body was later collected and dumped into the sea.

A Lot Of Vital Information Was Recovered From The Raid

During the raid on the compound, the US Special Forces reportedly recovered vast amounts of vital information regarding the organization’s plans.
