Cannes Film Festival is the biggest movie event of the year where big stars make their appearance. This year, several Bollywood celebrities are expected to show up. According to reports, Deepika Padukone, who has appeared at the festival before, will be part of a jury this time. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has not officially announced, but Indian media suggests she will also “likely” return to attend the event. These are somewhat regular Bollywood Celebs at Cannes 2022, but many others are reportedly set to make their debut.
List of Bollywood Celebs at Cannes 2022
Besides the huge film stars, Indian TV actors are also reportedly joining Bollywood celebs at Cannes 2022. The 75th annual celebration of cinema will run for 11 days from 17th to 28th May. After 2020 Cannes was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the next edition of the event was able to draw more celebrity attention than ever. And it seems like this year will be bigger than the last. Here is the list of all Bollywood celebrities expected to grace the event.
Deepika Padukone
The Padmavaat actress has appeared at the festival many times in the past. According to reports, she made her Cannes debut in 2010 and then returned in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She will be joining Bollywood celebs at Cannes 2022 as a jury member for the first time. Cannes announced this news on social media in April. Deepika will join the jury pool comprising Vincent Lindon, Asghar Farhadi, Joachim Trier, Rebecca Hall, Jasmine Trinca, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols, and Noomi Rapace. She has also been busy with a handful of projects, including Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham, Intern with Amitabh Bachchan, and Fighter with Hrithik Roshan.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
According to Indian media, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is also expected to make her 20th appearance on the Cannes stage this year. After becoming Miss World in 1994, Aish represented India on almost every global platform. Her run as the international face of India will continue if she joins other Bollywood Celebs at Cannes 2022. She made her Cannes debut in 2002 and has never missed a single event since then. Aish is also one of the most awaited celebrities on the Cannes red carpet.
Hina Khan
Indian TV Actress Hina Khan known for playing Akshara in “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” on Star Plus, is also returning to join Bollywood celebs at Cannes 2022. She visited Cannes for the first time in 2019. Khan is also known for appearing in Big Boss 11 as a contestant and Big Boss 14 as a senior.
Nayanthara
Diana Mariam Kurian, known by her alias Nayanthara is a renowned face in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. She is also making her debut with big Bollywood celebs at Cannes 2020. Nayanthara has worked in over 75 movies and is one of the highest-paid actresses in India. She is also the only South Indian actress to be included in Forbes India Celebrity 100 List 2018. According to reports, she is getting married to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan in June 2022. One of her upcoming movies, “02” is going to be released in June on Disney+ Hotstar.
Pooja Hegde
Another South Indian actress Pooja Hegde is also making her debut on Cannes 2022 red carpet. She has also appeared in Bollywood movies Mohenjo Daro, Houseful 4, and Radhe Shyam. 2 more of her films are coming in 2022; Cirkus with Ranveer Singh and Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Salman Khan.
Tamannaah Bhattia
Yet another Tamil actress Tamannaah Bhattia is reportedly debuting at Cannes Film Festival 2022. She is known for playing a warrior in the superhit Tamil movie Bahubali. She has also appeared in Bollywood movies Himatwala, Entertainment, and Humshakal.
Aditi Rao Hydari
Aditi made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Prajapathi in 2006. She gained attention after working on 2011 romantic thriller Yeh Saali Zindagi. She quickly established herself in Bollywood, appearing in several films, including Murder 3, Padmaavat, Wazir, and Bhoomi. Now she is off to France to make her red carpet debut with other Bollywood celebs at Cannes 2022.
Helly Shah
Indian television actress Helly Shah is also going to Cannes for the first time. She is known for playing lead roles in dramas like Ishq Main Marjawan 2 and Sufiyana Pyaar Mera. Her fans can’t wait to see her on the red carpet.
One can already see how this year’s Cannes event is going to be more special than ever. One of the reasons is that the festival will play a Pakistani movie for the first time.
