New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern Gives Birth to Baby Girl

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has given birth to a baby girl at Auckland City Hospital. She has become the second Prime Minister who gave birth while being in office- the first one was Benazir Bhutto from Pakistan.

Bakthwar Bhutto Zardari, daughter of Benazir Bhutto also congratulated Jacinda, one day before, when media was reporting about the expected birth of the child.

Jacinda Ardern’s Baby Girl

Jacinda announced about the birth of her baby girl in an Instagram post. She said, “Welcome to our village wee one. Feeling lucky to have a healthy baby girl that arrived at 4.45 pm weighing 3.3 kg (7.3lb).”

“Thank you so much for your best wishes and your kindness. We’re all doing well thanks to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital.”

Jacinda is now on maternity leave for six months. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters will fill in her place.

Kiwis Waiting for Jacinda’s Baby

It seems that people in New Zealand were much excited about 37 years old Jacinda Ardern giving birth to a baby while being a prime minister.

Since the last few days, media was reporting about the developments. And, social media users were also predicting the gender of the baby and expected names.

Jacinda’s Partner to Be Stay at Home Dad

It was in January when Jacinda announced about her pregnancy via Instagram post. She said, “Clarke and I are really excited that in June our team will expand from two to three. And that we will be joining the many parents out there who wear two hats. I will be Prime Minister AND a mum, and Clarke will be the first man of fishing and stay at home dad.”

Jacinda Ardern is the Labour party’s youngest leader and youngest Prime Minister of New Zealand in last 150 years. She started leading her part only three months before its victory in October 2017 elections.
