It is good news for Money Heist fans, as the story will continue even after the show’s end. Netflix’s hit series is coming to an end with volume 2 of season 5, releasing on 3rd December. However, the show’s star Pedro Alonso announced at a fan event in Madrid that a Berlin Spin-off series would keep the Money Heist fever.
The series titled “Berlin” is going to release in 2023 on Netflix. The creator of Money Heist Álex Pina will be also be involved in this along with Javier Gómez Santander and Juan Savador López, his frequent collaborators.
Money Heist Berlin Spin-Off Series Teaser
The Berlin spin-off series will be an origin story of Andre de Fonolloso (Berlin), the devious older brother of Sergio Marquina (The Professor).
Ever since he died in the Money Heist season 2, fans have missed him terribly and imagined his return to be a part of the show somehow. It looks like fans have finally gotten their wish fulfilled. The show also confirmed the upcoming series from its Twitter handle by sharing a teaser.
The new story arc will allow fans to know this character more, who died relatively early in a 5-season show. Viewers already knew that Berlin was a racist, misogynist, and psychopath who was terminally ill from the beginning. For many, it is going to be interesting to see how the upcoming series will handle his backstory.
Fan Reaction
Actor Andre de Fonollosa thanked the fans for desiring him, which made the Berlin spin-off series possible. Fans have been excited to see him again, but some have wished for some characters as well. While he was gone from the show, many fans developed an interest in other characters, especially Nairobi, which is played by Alba Flores. The show killed her off in the 4th season, and her death set up the 5th season, which was full of unique twists.
Fans argued that if Money Heist made a Berlin spin-off, then why not create one on other fan favourites too.
