Punjabi Singer Diljit Dosanjh has released a new song RiRi which seems a tribute to pop sensation Rihanna. The singer released the 2:15 minute song on his YouTube channel, which has over 2 million subscribers, without video. The lyrics of the song are all about the praise of the Barbados singer Rihanna and glorify her beauty.
The song has just come hours after Rihanna extended her support for protesting Indian farmers through Twitter. However, while posting about the song before a few minutes of its premier; Diljit didn’t mention whether this tribute was a response to Rihanna’s bold stance for the Indian farmers or something else.

Fans of Diljit Dosanjh were equally surprised after seeing this song. If it was really a tribute to Rihanna for her support for the Indian farmers then it was too quick and something that complimented the craft of G.O.A.T singer. However, Diljit’s rival Kangana says otherwise. She could not let go of any opportunity to fight with the singer in order to prove her nationalism. Queen actor slammed Rihanna and tried to dismiss her credibility in a series of tweets after she supported farmers protest. It seems that Kangana is of opinion that the video seems planned and not organic.
The story doesn’t end here. Diljit Dosanjh vs Kangana Ranaut row is trending with Indian farmers’ protest. Kangana, who is promoting a nationalist stance accuses Diljit Dosanjh of being a Khalistani (someone who supports Khalistan- a separate land for Sikhs).
Even in response to Kangana’s accusation, Diljit answered that it would take him only two minutes to make a song on her but he didn’t want to. In her reply, Kangana once again accused him of being Khalistani- something which the Indian government is doing to protesters instead of satiating their concerns.
Indian Government’s Mishandling of Farmers Protest
Indian farmers are protesting against the new farm laws that the Modi government passed in September 2020. The government claims that laws will free the farmers from the trap of middlemen. However, the farmers have concerns that they will end up losing their hard-earned money to the big corporations. Till now, all the negotiations have failed. Protesting farmers are from entire India but mainly constitute Punjabi and Sikh farmers. They are not only facing violence and different forms of suppression from the government, but also facing accusations of being separatists from Kangana- like Desh Bhakts (so-called nationalists).
On February 2, international celebrities like Rihanna and Greta Thunberg raised their voices for the sufferings of Indian farmers. Since then supporters of the Modi government are trying to paint Rihanna as someone who is working on Pakistani agenda. The controversial bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is even making claims against Rihanna in an attempt to discredit her. She said that Rihanna is merely a pop singer and her $600 million networth is fake. Despite all these efforts by the supporters of fascist Indian regime, all eyes are set on India. It is suppressing the resistance from what is being called one of the largest protests in modern history.
