Pakistani Celebrities Face Backlash for Not Voting In Elections 2018

The day of Elections 2018 has finally arrived in Pakistan. Citizens are flocking to polling stations for using their right to vote and select a government that they think can bring betterment. At the same times, social media is criticizing the celebrities like Mahira Khan for not casting a vote.

Celebrities Not Voting in General Elections 2018

Many of celebs from Pakistan’s showbiz industry are in Canada for Hum Awards. Social media users and the singer Farhan Saeed called out to celebrities for leaving Pakistan at such a crucial moment.

And, then followed a backlash from the public who shamed showbiz stars for not participating in the electoral process.

Mahira Khan’s Regret

Mahira Khan took to Instagram for responding to trolls. The actress who is one of the most inspirational Pakistani women talked about how unfortunate it was for her to not vote in Elections 2018.

As much as I want to be there tomorrow, it is unfortunate that I can not be. There was absolutely no way to delay my work commitment which was scheduled months in advance, I tried my best. And so with a heavy heart I will not be voting this year. I urge all of you to get out and vote!! May this year bring the change we all have been waiting to see. InshAllah.
