Keanu Reeves along with co-stars Carrie-Anne Moss and a newcomer Neil Patrick Haris was spotted in Berlin to resume shooting of The Matrix 4.
Reportedly the rest of the cast includes Lambert Wilson, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Jada Pinkett Smith, Priyanka Chopra, and more.
It was one of the most anticipated movies of 2021. Unfortunately, the concerns caused by the coronavirus pandemic delayed the filming and now it is expected to be released in 2022.
Previously in this widely popular Sci/Fi series; there were The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). Fourth installment is currently titled The Matrix 4 which will expand on the story after 18 years.
How Will The Matrix 4 Continue The Story?
The story will continue from where it left off in the third installment; The Matrix Revolutions (2003). At the end of Revolutions, the foundations for another chapter were already laid. It may seem that the beloved characters Neo (Keanu) and Trinity (Moss) have met their fate but this is Hollywood.
Nonetheless, it was shown that Trinity died in a crash when the war between humans and machines ended. As for Neo, to maintain the peace between humans and machines, the film had to make him die. He went into the matrix and sacrificed his life to stop the spread of Agent Smith, who became uncontainable for the Matrix.
He let Smith absorb him into it’s program and then destroyed it from within. This process killed both Neo and Smith but analysts suggest that Neo’s mind seemingly transcended and remained in the Matrix.
Finally, the machines took away Neo’s body in a crucifixion position which was a respectful manner among the machines.
It’s Not The End Until You Have A Sustainable Solution
In the final moments, the film takes the viewers back into the Matrix where Smith had created a new world. Viewers saw Oracle, the mother of the Matrix who was sitting on a bench watching the dawn of the new world.
She was also released from Smith’s captivity after Neo’s sacrifice. She believed in the freedom of humans unlike the Architect of the Matrix who approached her and agreed to uphold the deal he made with Neo which required his sacrifice in return for the freedom of others. However, he did not believe that this peace was going to last.
She somehow agrees that this call for peace is not a lasting solution but she is confident in her belief. This was the last scene in the story:
As she believes that Neo would return, one cannot tell if it would be the same Neo viewers know or a different one in The Matrix 4.
Human Conscious on Machines
Humans are biological creatures but inside the Matrix, they are physically linked to the system like computers. They are able to consume programs and instantly learn to fight like ninjas or fly aerial vehicles.
After assuming the technical abilities of a machine, humans become The One with the machine. Human conscious also be preserved like any data in a hard drive. Expanding on the idea, it can also be uploaded into a new body whenever required. Those who are keen to know about artificial super-intelligence and what is singularity must watch The Matrix series.
Oracle and the Architect believed that Neo could be needed once more but there is someone that Neo needs, in order to achieve what they expect of him. That person should also be saved on whom Neo relied on the most, since without Trinity he never would have been able to save the world from Smith.
She saved his life several times in each part of the movie and it might be the same case in Matrix 4.
