Everything About Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018

Miss Philipines, Catriona Gray, wore the crown of Miss Universe 2018 on the night of December 17 in Bangkok, Thailand. The 24 years old Catriona who bested contestants from 93 countries is the fourth Filipina to win this pageant.

It is to be noted that Catriona Gray who is a popular model in  Philippines has appeared in several beauty pageants before. She ended up among top 5 in Miss world pageant and won Miss Philippines 2016. Catriona also participated in Little Miss Philippines pageant in Sydney in 1999.

 Apart from taking part in beauty pageants, Catriona has been working for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS. She is also active for educating the impoverished children, something that also reflected well in her statement “We owe it to our children to believe in them.”

Her activism also reflected well in her message and her power of looking into real beauty.

Early Life of Catriona Gray

Catriona’s father is an Australian and mother a Philippine. She spent her early Childhood in Australia and moved to Philippine in her teens, where she worked as a model in TV commercials and magazines. 

Catriona As A Singer

It wouldn’t be wrong at all to say that Catriona rightly deserves the title of Miss Universe 2019. The multi-talented pageant winner is also a trained singer and songwriter. She reportedly holds a Masters certificate in music from the Berklee College of Music.

It seems that her work in music also reflects her social activism. She also released a single “We’re in this together”, while collaborating with Young Focus Philippines. 

About Her Look and Walk

Catriona’s winning gown that she donned while wearing the crown of Miss Universe 2018 also made her stand apart. She wore Mayon Volcano inspired design by Mak Tumang and boasted her iconic lava walk. Another thing that caught attention was her custom-made earrings studded with three stars and making her ears look like Sun. In fact, the ear accessory served a multi-purpose. It not only looked like a crown but also resembled the Philippine’s flag to a certain degree. Briefly, there couldn’t have been any better choice for Catriona.

Miss Universe 2018- A Diverse Pageant

While Catriona Gray is now the Miss Universe 2018 the eyes were set on Angela Ponce a likely first transgender Miss Universe. Angela from Spain who was among the top finalists made news for being the first transgender to participate in this pageant.
