Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif during his address to parliament while talking about motorway rape case, stated a point which was entirely non-relatable with the incident. He appreciated Mian Nawaz Sharif for constructing motorway instead of condemning the incident and consoling the survivor or referring to the incident. His mistake became a shocking factor for Pakistanis, they started throwing question bombs like what was he trying to say in his speech? Not just he but Khawaja Asif and other assembly members were also agreeing to his statement.
Shehbaz Sharif realized his mistake
Recently Shahbaz confessed that he made a mistake while commenting about the motorway case in National Assembly. He didn’t properly contextualize his comment. According to him, it was very insensitive of him to say something like that. He said he’s sorry for what he stated in front of entire country. Moreover, He claimed that he’s devastated like all of us and he hopes that government is taking necessary precautions in order to provide security to citizens.
His Statement Was Offensive
There’s no doubt that PMLN has a great number of followers and supporters who trust the party and especially Shehbaz Shareef blindly. However, even his supporters got offended when they heard him speaking nonsense in the National Assembly On a crucial subject.
The very point stated by Shehbaz Sharif, led his supporters towards criticizing him. Their point of view inferred that all of Pakistan knows and appreciates Nawaz Sharif for making motorway and achieving a marvelous goal. On the contrary, it was highly inappropriate to state this, particularly when the matter being discussed was about the heinous crime of rape and not about achievements of a political party. The incident has left people in shock.
Nearly every entity has pointed their guns at Shehbaz Sharif for his misspoken words. Some of the alleged haters claimed that the way he commented on the incident, was merely an approach taken in order to do marketing of his party. Otherwise, there was no point of appreciating or even mentioning Nawaz Sharif on that occasion.
Not only Shehbaz Sharif became the victim of hatred but public also criticized Hamid Mir who is an anchor person and a journalist. They shared Screenshots of tweets by Mir that showed his response to apology by CCPO Lahore and apology by Sharif. Recently, Public demanded to remove CCPO because he had blamed the victim in motorway case. Later, he apologized by saying that he did not mean it that way, but Hamid Mir raised a question on his admission of guilt by saying should his apology be accepted or not? In case of Shehbaz Sharif, he appreciated and thanked him for apologizing.
His Supporters Had Their Own Things to Say
Apart from all the criticism, there are many who thought that he was onto a point. However they state that Pakistanis didn’t comprehend what he was trying to convey. Shehbaz Shairf’s point was entirely different from what everyone had grasped. According to him, when PMLN was in power, the security was good and there was no such crime. Whereas, PTI has done nothing but being negligent and that’s the reason behind the rapid increase in crimes.
Those who support him will always find a way to defned him but the fact is that his statement was actually disgusting since it was distracting from the heinous crime. The politicians was using the incident for point scoring and not showing his actual concern.
